Definitions/Abbreviations

CSR: Corporate Social Responsibility

Corporate Social Responsibility: The voluntary commitment of companies to include social, environmental, and cultural actions in their business practices that go beyond what is required by existing legislation and relate to those affected by their activities.

Corporate Image: The total emotional reactions generated in the average social individual whenever they think of a company, which lead to a specific behavior, either positive or negative.

Corporate Reputation: The conscious attribution of characteristics that are socially positively accepted towards a company by individuals.

Corporate Philanthropy: The donation of money to a charitable organization/cause. It is the most traditional form of CSR.

CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY IS DIVIDED INTO THREE TYPES:

Humanitarian

The adoption of CSR has become necessary due to the phenomenon of globalization and as part of efforts to raise the standard of living and economic development, as well as to shape the image and reputation of companies that are socially and environmentally responsible. Additionally, the adoption of CSR policies is deemed essential for sustainable development. Furthermore, CSR is distinguished into internal and external. Internal CSR concerns employees and is related to issues such as investment in human resources, health and safety, and change management. External CSR involves the extension of the company’s responsibility to the local community and encompasses a wide range of stakeholders, including not only employees and shareholders but also suppliers, customers, partners, etc. Finally, a concept associated with CSR is business ethics. Business ethics involves the decisions and actions of management executives that align with overall policy and are based on moral rules, ethical principles, virtues, and values. Business ethics is mainly achieved through the development of trust and ethical principles among a company’s human resources and their relationships with the external environment of the company, with the aim of promoting social interest and the progress of the social whole.

Ethics

Refers to various actions aimed at acting as deterrents, resulting in the minimization of any social harm.

Strategic

Combines social benefits with immediate strategic goals, contributing to the enhancement of long-term economic objectives.
